Muji opens first store in Vancouver

Vancouver’s first Muji store has finally opened its doors at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby.
The store opening has been widely anticipated, following a highly successful pop-up shop, which ran earlier this year from January 27 to February 28 inside Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim, as part of the Japan Unlayered exhibition.
The store is the Japanese retailer’s first location in western Canada, as well as the country’s largest Muji location to date. It houses Muji’s complete offering, which comprises household items, furniture, appliances, stationery, skincare products and apparel.
The store reportedly opened to huge crowds on Saturday, August 26.
The 7,770-square-foot location won’t be Vancouver’s only location for long, however. A street-front store on Robson Street is expected to open before the end of the year and will stand at an impressive 16,000 square feet.
The new store opening marks Muji’s fifth Canadian location, with four stores located in the Greater Toronto Area. The retailer expanded to Canada in 2014.
Muji has previously stated that they plan to open more stores across Canada, though no official expansion plans have been shared.
