Myntra to invest heavily in technology, expand base in Silicon Valley

India’s top fashion online retailer Myntra is planning to invest heavily in technology and is ramping up hiring in the sector, including the expansion of its team based in Silicon Valley.

The Flipkart owned fashion retailer will be expanding its base in the Silicon Valley, USA by hiring more Data Scientists this year and has said that its biggest investment will be in technology in 2018.

The company already has a small presence in the Silicon Valley further to its acquisition of San Francisco-based start-up Fitiquette. Amidst tough competition by Amazon, which is rapidly scaling up and investing in technology, Myntra has also stepping up and spending the cash to use technology to maintain dominance in the e-commerce fashion market in India.

“We are ramping up tech hiring big time. Our biggest investment by far will be in tech. We will grow tech much faster than revenue. We are hiring architects, we are hiring data scientists, we will hire a head of data science, we will hire people in the US. We’ll have a small team in the US,” Myntra chief executive Ananth Narayanan told the Mint.

“We’re using tech, machine learning and AI through every business process in Myntra to see what we can actually do more often and better,” added Narayanan.
