Matheson is a 19-year veteran of Nike, who most recently served as VP, Chief Talent and Diversity Officer, overseeing all aspects of Talent Management and Diversity and Inclusion. She also served as VP and Senior Business Partner, leading Human Resources for North America, and Global Product Creation for footwear, apparel and equipment.

Prior to joining Nike, Matheson earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, and practiced employment law with a law degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, School of Law.

Matheson’s appointment comes as Nike shifts its focus to 12 major global cities and reduces its geographic operating segments to four regions. The new business plan is designed to make Nike more nimble in the digital marketplace and in product delivery.

The sportswear company recently opened a 150,000-square-foot New York City headquarters in the centralized lower Midtown Manhattan neighborhood, and is expanding its Beaverton, Oregon headquarters, which will cost the company $1 billion.
