Obakki Foundation launches six new scarf colours
Oct 21, 2016
Vancouver-based not-for-profit Obakki Foundation launched on Thursday six new scarf colours as part of its Scarves for Water Program, for the holiday season.
The new Scarves for Water colours include the colours Denim, Clay, Charcoal, Haze, Crimson, and Basin Print. The scarves are a lightweight modal blend composed of 65 percent rayon and 35 percent modal, and are 130 by 130 cm.
The money raised from the scarves will allow for the construction of a new water well. The sale of 500 scarves of each model will bring clean water to a specific village in South Sudan. One hundred percent of the net proceeds of each scarf goes towards drilling a well. The six new scarf colours will lead to a new well in the village of Denge, Pulmalou, Aduer, Adol Manyiel, Kuju Cheni and Dhoor-Lei.
Once 500 have been sold, each colour is considered “retired” and will never be sold again. There are currently five other limited edition colour scarves available.
Obakki Designs is a world-renowned, luxury fashion label offering classic and refined styles for the modern woman. The small Vancouver-based foundation is created and run by local fashion designer Obakki and Treana Peake. Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Zooey Deschanel have all been photographed wearing Obakki.
To date, the Obakki Foundation has provided medical, educational and nutritional support to thousands of children living around the world, built numerous schools in remote regions of Africa, and more.
A scarf can be purchased at obakkifoundation.org.
