Oxylane accelerates its international development

Published
Apr 15, 2014

Oxylane, the parent company of Decathlon, has recorded a 7.4 billion euro turnover for the fiscal year 2013, up 6.1% compared to 7.2% growth a year earlier. On a comparable basis, however, Decathlon’s growth remained at 1.3%, unchanged from 2012.

In France, revenue amounted to 3.2 billion euros, up 1.4% (+0.3% on a comparable basis, internet included) as compared with a 4.8% rise in 2012.

The group's growth has mainly been driven by the acceleration in store openings abroad, international sales accounting for 58.2% of Oxylane’s business. In 2013, Decathlon expanded its fleet by 74 outlets - three net openings in France - as compared with 58 openings in 2012.

In China, where the sporting goods distribution company has been present for 10 years, 25 new stores were launched in 2013, raising the total to 80.

India, for its part, has increased its number of stores from 6 to 10. It is also worth nothing that in January 2015, Yves Claude, current CEO of Oxylane, will hand over the reigns to Michel Aballea, who has directed the company in India since 2007.

Decathlon now has 723 stores in total - including 258 in France - in 20 countries, including Bulgaria as a new edition.
