Parsons to honor leaders in fashion and design industry at annual benefit

The New School at Parsons announced the honorees for the 68th annual Parsons Benefit, which will be held on May 23. Among the honorees are Donna Karan, a fashion icon and former Parsons graduate; Arianna Huffington, entrepreneur and media icon; Sarah Jessica Parker, actress and fashion icon; and Beth Rudin DeWoody, art curator, philanthropist, and New School for Social Research graduate.

 
Parsons New School holds the annual benefit to raise funds for scholarships and to inspire students by honoring fashion design leaders. "We have so much to celebrate at Parsons this year, starting with the four women we are honoring for their work in social good and their accomplishments in art and performance," said Joel Towers, executive dean of Parsons School of Design at The New School.
 
For the first time, this year's benefit is hosted by both the New School and Parsons' College of Performing Arts. Richard Kessler, executive dean of the College of Performing Arts, said of the new partnership: "The opportunity for our students to perform alongside the Parsons students, who will debut their designs during the runway show, underscores The New School's commitment to creative collaboration, and represents the best of what our distinctive schools have to offer."

Parsons School of Design in New York City offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a disciplines related to fashion design and performing arts.
