PhotoPlus Expo, the largest photography conference expo in North America, announced on Wednesday its first annual “Your New York Minute” photo contest. The contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers, and they have a chance to win as much as over $5,000 in prizes.
Each entrant for the “Your New York Minute” contest can submit photos taken in any and/or each New York City borough and the other city islands like Roosevelt, Randalls and Liberty among others. The photos must be entered in the appropriate category based on where the photo was taken, and all winning images will be on display during the PhotoPlus Expo at the Jacob Javits Center from October 20-22, 2016.
The contest has a fee of $20 per professional entry and $15 per amateur entry, and the deadline for entries is September 5, 2016. Photo+ members will receive a discount for each photo entered and a portion of all fees will be donated to City Harvest food bank in New York City.
"We wanted to celebrate PhotoPlus Expo's home city, and thought there was no better way to do that than with a contest that highlights each amazing part of it," explains Lauren Wendle, vice president & group publisher of PDN, which hosts the annual PhotoPlus Expo. "Hundreds of great New York moments are captured with cameras and mobile devices each day. The contest is an opportunity for visitors and residents alike to share those special moments with us."
All photos entered into the Your New York Minute photo contest will be used to create a mosaic of the Manhattan skyline, and all contest entrants will receive a high-resolution image file of the mosaic.
