Pitti W names Barbara Casasola as guest designer

Pitti W has announced that Barbara Casasola will be the guest designer at the next edition of the Florence womenswear tradeshow. The Brazilian designer presented her third ever collection on the podiums at London Fashion Week this past season, after previously showing in Paris. Casasola is also one of four finalists for the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize 2013, which will take place on October 29.

Casasola’s contemporary designs are sold in 14 countries and feature on the rails in store such as Harvey Nichols, Luisa Via Roma and Spiga2. The Brazilian born designer graduated from Central Saint Martins before working in Paris. She now has a design studio based in London.

“Barbara Casasola is a young woman who has worked with a number of top fashion houses,” says Lapo Cianchi, director of communication at Pitti Immagine, referencing her work at See by Chloé and Lanvin. “She is proud of her homeland, Brazil, but has chosen to live and work in London, in a highly competitive environment. All her work is produced in Italy and this is another reason why we are interested in her. We are convinced that she is on the verge of taking her place on the front line of international women’s fashion and that is why we offered her a platform at Pitti,” he continues.
