Plus-sized womenswear label Coverstory is making history by bringing in not just a plus-sized model to front their new campaign, but a transgender, plus-sized model.

Model Shay Nealy, who is represented by trans-specific agency Transmodel, will appear in the new campaign images. Coverstory, launched in early 2016, brings a selection of contemporary, trend-forward clothing to the plus-sized market. The e-commerce boutique stocks a selection of product categories, including home, accessories, ready-to-wear, and leather goods, at an affordable price point.

The fashion industry has been taking leaps and bounds this year towards embracing transgender spokesmodels. Hari Nef fronted Mansur Gavriel's campaign earlier in 2016, while Andreja Pejic was tapped by Reformation to be the star of the LA brand’s Holiday campaign.

Even big players in the beauty industry have turned to transgender models. Just last week, L’Oreal included Hari Nef in their new diversity campaign. MAC has also released not one, but two collections co-designed by Caitlyn Jenner.
