RYU announces first US store

RYU Apparel Inc is setting its sights on the US market with the opening of its first US store.

The Vancouver-based athletic brand announced on Monday that it has secured a store front in Williamsburg, in Brooklyn, New York. The 2,800-square-foot store will be located on 76, North 4th St. and is set to open in the first quarter of 2018.

"We are excited to announce this important next step in the growth of RYU as a global brand", said Marcello Leone, CEO and President of RYU. "Expansion into the New York City area allows us to create connections and build community in one of the most influential athletic and fashion markets in the world."

The new store opening comes just a month after the company inaugurated its first Toronto retail location.

The athletic brand opened its first flagship store in Vancouver in 2015, followed by a second Vancouver location in the downtown Robson shopping district and a third location in West Vancouver.

RYU is also set to open a location in Greater Vancouver this month at Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre.

The new store openings will bring the retailer’s total store count to six.

RYU has been on a steady growth path since the company first launched. In its last reported quarter, revenue was $641,231, up 113 percent compared to the same period in 2016.
