Fewer than six months after the opening of its first pop-up in SoHo, digital-first luxury handbag resale marketplace Rebag announced on Wednesday that it has opened a second store on Madison Avenue and will be integrating its online services into a single platform.
The store is the latest step in the company’s omnichannel expansion plan and comes as Rebag reveals that its SoHo pop-up location will continue to operate as a permanent flagship.
The new space is located at the 57th street corner of Madison Avenue and will house more than 350 handbags. The brand’s signature pastel yellow features prominently in the location’s design, which also includes a floor-to-ceiling glass storefront and handmade wooden fixtures from Waka Waka Studio.
Following in the footsteps of the SoHo pop-up-turned-flagship, the Madison Avenue store will also feature a “Rebag Bar” where customers can bring their unwanted bags to be evaluated for resale and receive payment within the hour.
According to a release from the company, the hope is to “provide a seamless experience for both Rebag’s e-commerce and brick-and-mortar customers.”
“With Rebag, our goal is to challenge the perception of the secondary marketplace while still making luxe accessible,” said Rebag Founder and CEO Charles Gorra. “The Madison Avenue store closely mirrors the brand's rich online experience, and introduces inviting sensory features to immerse people into the world of Rebag.”
Continuing the theme of greater integration, the company has also announced that it will be merging Trendlee, its e-commerce store, into Rebag.com, its sellers’ platform, in order to create a single destination for both resale and purchase of luxury handbags.
Until now, the company primarily operated by purchasing pre-owned handbags directly from owners who received quotes based on photos they submitted via its Rebag mobile app. Owners could then decide to accept the quote or not and ship the bag free within the US or use the company’s white glove courier service in New York. The bags would then be resold through Trendlee.
Rebag’s SoHo pop-up already streamlined this process with the introduction of the Rebag Bar and the brand is now taking further steps to render its services even more user-friendly, with its new store and integrated platform.
The company will continue to offer its white glove courier service in New York for customers who cannot make it to either of its stores.
The new Rebag location is now open at 575 Madison Avenue, New York.
