"We're thrilled to have Jim Gabel on board," says Roots chairman Erol Uzumeri, in a news statement. "His extensive experience growing brands for well-known, global apparel and footwear companies will be key as we look to continue to expand Roots footprint domestically and internationally. Based on his record of performance and ability to drive significant growth, we believe he will be instrumental in building the Roots brand globally."

Rudyk was most recently CFO of Shred-It where he helped the company reach more than $700 million in revenues and helped expand to more than 17 countries around the world.

"We're excited to welcome an executive with Jim Rudyk's experience and savvy to the team," says Uzumeri. "He's got a record that proves he understands how finance can best support the kind of global growth that we're planning for Roots."

Both appointments are currently in effect.

The Toronto-based apparel company was founded in 1973.
