Ross Dress for Less to open new Miami Beach store

Dublin, CA off price retailer Ross Dress for Less (Ross) will open a new 30,000 square foot store in Miami Beach, Florida.

The new Ross store will be at Miami Beach's The Shops at Carib on Lincoln Road between Washington and Collins Avenue in Miami.

Miami's Lincoln Road hosts the retail destination of the Lincoln Road Mall. The mall offers ten blocks of walkable outdoor shopping and dining in South Beach. Ross' new location is several blocks east, closer to the beach.

The new Miami store size is slightly larger than the average Ross store size. Average Ross stores occupy approximately 28,000 square feet. Ross averages $288 in sales per square foot, almost double what traditional department stores have been recording.

As traditional retail has struggled, Ross has come out ahead. Its 2016 fiscal revenues were $12.9 billion. The company operates both Ross Dress for Less stores as well as the DD's Discounts chain.

Ross operates over 1,500 stores under its two brands. It has a retail presence in 37 states, Washington D.C. and Guam. Miami Beach will be Ross' 159th Florida store location. It is part of a growth plan to add 70 new locations across the US in 2017.
