Runyon Group plans more retail development in Culver
Mar 17, 2016
LA and NY based development firm Runyon Group has announced its plans to develop Hayden Tract, a 4 acre site in the heart of Culver City, CA, into Platform, a new retail and lifestyle destination
The Hayden Tract represents the site of a former car dealership that has sat underdeveloped since the seventies. The site will be called Platform, and is going to add more retail and consumer traffic to the area that has already become known for new restaurants and shopping, not to mention media and marketing office headquarters space.
With the Metro Expo line having recently been worked on to include a stop in Culver, Platform will be a hit for both residential and commercial space.
Runyon co-founder David Fishbein explained where the group is in development steps for Platform. He said, “we purchased a couple of additional sites next to Platform. The first phase is a $75 million project.”
Shops that have already signed on to rent space include Velvet, a SoulCycle studio, Juice Served Here, and boutique SF based Blue Bottle Coffee.
As Velvet’s CEO Henry Hirschowitz explained of the area, “For us, this was a no-brainer… The area has become a destination [spot] in the neighborhood. There is a local art scene with some great galleries, so the artists have followed here. People come for the food scene because there are good-caliber restaurants and the living spaces are desirable.”
The area is rich indeed as a destination spot in the neighborhood, with Nike, Converse, Smashbox's LA headquarters all also within a stone’s throw away from where Platform will be.
