Salvatore Ferragamo entrusts women's line to Fulvio Rigoni

Since the arrival of new boss Eraldo Poletto last August, Salvatore Ferragamo is going through a busy phase of managerial and creative refashioning.

Fulvio Rigoni - Salvatore Ferragamo

Last March, the Florentine luxury label was left without a creative director after the departure of Massimiliano Giornetti, and decided to reshape its creative department by splitting it into three areas: menswear, womenswear and accessories.

Paul Andrew was recently put in charge of Ferragamo's women's shoes collection, a first in the label's history. Then, at  the show for the women's ready-to-wear line during the Milan Fashion Week at the end of September, Ferragamo unveiled the work and the name of its new womenswear Design Director, Fulvio Rigoni, who worked with Christian Dior until 2015.

Rigoni joined the Parisian fashion label in 2012 in the wake of Raf Simons, with whom he had worked for six years at Jil Sanders.

The 40 year-old designer of Venetian origin grew up in Lombardy and learned his craft on the job. As he himself explained, he learned everything in the field, taking his first steps at long-standing Italian label Basile.

He then continued his career with some of the major labels, beginning with Prada, which he joined in 1993. He did a stint at Gucci in 1999, joined Bally in 2000 and three years later moved to New York to work at Calvin Klein, until he teamed up with Raf Simons in 2006 at Jil Sander.

Salvatore Ferragamo now only needs to appoint a menswear designer to fill all the top slots in its creative department.
