Skechers Performance, a division of Skechers USA, announced that the brand will be the official running shoe sponsor of the 2016 Ironman European tour.
The Ironman European tour will commence with the Ironman® 70.3® Pays d’Aix event in May in Aix-en-Provence, France. Skechers Performance will be on site at 26 of the 43 races during the Ironman European tour.

The brand will be visible at the expo village and featured in event marketing, such as race and event signage, new media and digital extensions. With this strong presence, Skechers ensures that athletes will experience the Skechers Performance brand as they swim, bike and run, through Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Denmark.

“Joining Ironman complements our global marketing strategy for the Performance Division, as this is an essential opportunity to connect directly with our target running demographic and build brand awareness across all of Europe,” said Rick Higgins, SVP, Merchandising/Marketing, Skechers Performance.

Ironman Chief Sales Officer, Carola Ross, added: “With the Skechers Performance mantra of ‘Go Like Never Before’ and their lightweight and innovative designs, we couldn’t find a more dynamic running shoe partner for our events in Europe than Skechers Performance.”

In addition to sponsoring events, such as the 2016 Ironman European Tour, Skechers Performance is a prominent player in the field of elite running. The brand has attracted athletes, such as world-class marathoner Meb Keflezighi and also sponsors U.S. elite marathoner, Kara Goucher along with European athletes Anja Beranek and Nils Frommhold.

Skechers footwear is currently available in the United States and over 160 countries worldwide. The company has more than 1340 retail stores, and also operates with an online store.

The Ironman brand was founded in 1978 and has since then grown from a single race to a global sensation with more than 250 events and five unique brands: Ironman, Ironman 70.3, 5150 Triathlon Series, Iron Girl and Iron Kids.
