Swimontecarlo Fashion Week: a new beachwear platform

The Monegasque Chamber of Fashion and the principality of Monaco have teamed up with Florence-based trade show organiser Toscana d’Amare to create a new event that showcases beachwear and accessories in Monaco. Toscana d’Amare organizes other fashion events such as Mare D’Amare, Imagine Italia and Fiera di Genova.

The event has been named ‘Swimontecarlo Fashion Week’ and will take place for the first time between 5 and 8 September in Monaco. The event, whose dates are more in line with the demands of beachwear buyers, hopes to allow Italian and international buyers the chance to create new business contacts.

“The four-day event will take place in a 2500m² marquee called the Fashion Village. Here, around 60 local and international brands will present their Spring-Summer 2014 collections through runway shows exclusively for fashion professionals as well as via several open-to-the-public events. The objective is to transform Monaco into a platform for beach fashion,” the president of the Monaco Chamber of Fashion, Federica Nardono Spinetta, explained to FashionMag.com.

At the event’s official presentation on 19 March in Monaco, Francesco Pozzi from Maredimoda deemed the initiative as inspiring for allowing smaller and medium sized companies to partake in wholesale activity via a prestigious event offering high visibility, well deserved by those “artisanal companies that add value to the fashion sector”.

In the meantime, the Monegasque Chamber of Fashions promoted the event at Mare d’Amare at Chic in Beijing which was held between 26 and 29 March.
