Target closing 13 locations in the US

According to the American press, Target is closing 13 stores in the US. A Target spokesperson told CNN, "Typically, a store is closed as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability." Eligible employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to another one of Target’s 1,799 stores.

The 13 stores that are closing are in Austin North East in Austin, TX; Suncoast Pasco County in Odessa, FL; Casa Grande, AZ; 
Victorville, CA; East Flint in Flint, MI; 
Columbus Southwest in Columbus, OH; Springfield, OH; Northridge in Milwaukee, WI; Superior, WI; 
New Ulm, MN; Ottumwa, IA; Anderson, IN; and Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY.
 
Target has closed a number of stores in a span of one year. In January, the Minneapolis-based company announced plans to discontinue store operations in Canada. The company expected to close its 133 Canadian stores by May or June, but it moved the date ahead to mid-April.

In November 2014, it closed 11 locations in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota and Texas.

Target operates about 1,800 stores nationwide. The retailer has made it a top priority to improve the appearance of stores and the presentation of merchandise in those locations.
