Target introduces a line of sensory-friendly children's clothing
Aug 24, 2017
Target recently started retailing a limited selection of sensory-friendly clothing that's a part of its current (and popular) Cat & Jack kids’ collection.
Sensory processing disorder, as it is technically called, can affect one sense —like hearing, touch, or taste—Or it may affect multiple senses. Target is targeting parents who are raising a child with sensory issues by adding functional pieces of clothing with features such as heat-transferred labels in place of tags, flat seams and one-dimensional graphic tees. All items are available on Target’s website in sizes 2T to 5T for toddlers and XS-XL for older kids. Other children’s clothing companies that have already jumped on sensory-friendly bandwagon include Fun and Function, Kozie Clothes and Smart Knit Kids.
This fall, Target will also be focusing on children living with disabilities by introducing a line of adding adaptive clothing that would boast features such as zip-off sleeves and side openings.
