Telfar gives White Castle uniforms new look

Published
Sep 5, 2017

New York-based unisex streetwear label Telfar has partnered with White Castle to roll out new uniforms and also launch a streetwear capsule collection next month.

Jayson Keeling for White Castle

The uniforms feature a modern take on a royal blue polo shirt with yellow contrast stitching and an oversized logo boldly positioned on the front. The shirt has a collar but it is meant to feel like wearing a tee shirt. All of White Castle's 10,000 employees will wear the new uniform which can be seen in the brand's 400 stores.

The new uniforms are designed to offer a fashionable and fresh take on the brand's heritage and authenticity. The two brands came together first when White Castle became the host of Telfar's New York Fashion Week (NYFW) after-parties.

Clemens, a Queens, NY native, started Telfar when he was 18. The line is founded on his belief that fashion should be "universal, horizontal and democratic." The brand's statement explains, "it's not for you--it's for everyone."

Founder Telfar Clemens is a finalist for the 2017 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund. Clemens said of the White Castle partnership, "The uniforms were not about reinventing White Castle, just reflecting that core authenticity that people crave." To that end, the uniforms are about harnessing both of the brands' originality.

Jamie Richardson, Vice President at White Castle said, "Our two brands may have started 84 years apart but they share a passion for originality and timelessness that we believe is unrivaled." Richardson also commented that the collaboration will lead to endless possibilities.

The next project for the brands is a cobranded streetwear capsule collection that incorporates the White Castle heritage font with Telfar's brand logo. The capsule will focus on originality and will launch this October.
