Telfar x White Castle launches, sells out

CFDA nominee Telfar and White Castle continue to celebrate their partnership with a limited-edition streetwear capsule collection to benefit imprisoned minors unable to make bail as they await trial.

The capsule is a nine-piece collection featuring a "mash-up logo" using both of the brands' imagery. Details celebrate the key communities in New York where White Castle is most strongly represented. This includes the Bronx, Bushwick, East New York, Harlem and LeFrak City, Queens.

The partially-sold out collection includes tees, hoodies and hats. Tees are $90 to $120, hoodies range from $210-$220 and hats sold for $50.

All proceeds from the streetwear collection sales go to a human rights organization that funds bail money for minors held on Rikers Island. Average bail is $900 and most cannot afford it so they stay in jail.

Plans exist to add additional city-specific streetwear to the Telfar x White Castle caption. While not confirmed officially, future cities may include Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, and Columbus, Ohio.

To celebrate the Telfar x White Castle collection, White Castle inducted the Telfar duo of Telfar Clemens and Babak Radboy into its Cravers Hall of Fame at the White Castle home office in Ohio. The Hall of Fame includes comic book artist Stan Lee and musician Alice Cooper.

The induction was the latest partnership for White Castle and Telfar. Earlier this fall, Telfar redesigned the official employee uniforms for White Castle's 10,000 employees.

Jamie Richardson, Vice President at White Castle said, "No other fashion designer could have captured the White Castle spirit the way Telfar has with our new uniforms."

Telfar has been nominated as a finalist for the Vogue/CFDA 2017 Fashion Fund. The winner is announced November 6, 2017. Telfar originally launched in 2005 when Clemens was 18. Telfar grew up in Queens around the corner from a White Castle. The brands came together as Telfar would head to a White Castle for its NYFW after parties.
