The Black Tux, an online tuxedo and suit rental company, launched on Tuesday its first collaboration with Ovadia & Sons.
The collaboration consists of two suits, a tan suit and a double-breasted tuxedo, that can be dressed up or down according to the wearer’s preferences. Other pieces from the collection include dress shirts, silk and knit ties, various pocket squares and cufflinks. The full collection is available now for pre-order, and it will be available through the 2017 wedding season.
“We decided to partner with the Black Tux, because the quality that they’re offering is up to our standards,” said Ariel Ovadia. The rental costs for the suits are $185 and $215, which isn’t too far from the standard rental price range of $120 to $215. “We felt that it was a good way for us to be able to reach a wider audience especially at the price that they’re offering.”
Andrew Blackmon and Patrick Coyne founded The Black Tux in 2013 after seeing an opportunity to offer men an alternative to traditional tuxedo and suit rental outlets. The brand partners with the top suiting manufacturers and produces suits that are the equivalent in quality to a $1,200 suit. Black Tux uses 100% merino wool on suiting and 100% cotton for shirting.
On April 1, the brand opened a store at The Tie Bar in Chicago, and it operates a showroom at its headquarters in Santa Monica.
