In this role, Heacock succeeds Karen B. Rhoads, who announced her retirement from the retailer in May. She will remain with the company for a period, in order to assist in the transfer of her duties and responsibilities, and she will continue to serve as a member of the Board of Directors.

Rhoads announced her retirement with the release of the retailer’s first quarter results that included a 12.8% decrease in net sales and a decrease in net income to $16.3 million, or $0.34 per share.

The Buckle also reported a 5.9% decrease in June sales to $73.6 million and a 5.8% decrease in comparable store net sales.

“The recommendation to the Board comes as the result of a two-month search process overseen by the Audit Committee, which consists of all of the Company’s independent directors,” said The Buckle Chairman of the Board Daniel J. Hirschfeld. “As part of that process, the Audit Committee retained an executive search firm to assist them in identifying and evaluating both internal and external candidates.”

Heacock joined The Buckle in 2003 and most recently served as VP of Finance, Treasurer and Corporate Controller. Prior to joining The Buckle, he worked at Ernst & Young, LLP.
