Launched in 2016, the Makers Market is a one-day event that highlights the work of SVA alumni and helps the creatives build on their entrepreneurial spirit. The product fair is a one-stop shop that exhibits apparel, accessories, jewelry, furniture, decorative objects, home wares, stationery, self-published books, magazines and comics among other items.

This year, the Makers Market will feature 50 vendors including Even Keel, an all-natural bath and body line from 2011 graduate En Tsao; 2014 graduate Richard Clarkson; Dwarf Star Design, the brand from Astrida Valigorsky that utilizes laser cut technology; and MFA 2008 Fine Arts graduate Rocio Salceda.

The fair also has a philanthropic purpose this year, housing vendors such as Take a Stand, an organization that donates proceeds from the sale of their four custom designed silk scarves to Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Organization For Women, The International Refugee Assistance Project, in support of celebrating diversity and the rights of women, LGBTQ, and immigrant community.

Some vendors such as MFA 2016 Fine Arts graduate AnnaLiisa Ariosa-Benston’s Famousonmars have a similar purpose with politically-charged, timely products.

The Makers Market will also donate 100% of the booth fees to the College’s Alumni Society student scholarships.
