The Webster to open fifth retail location in NYC

Published
Jun 12, 2017

Luxury multi-brand boutique The Webster is heading to the Big Apple to open its next store. The Miami-based retailer announced on Monday that it will open its fifth retail location in New York City in 2017.

The New York City store will be located in a six-story, 12,000-square-foot cast-iron building at 29 Greene Street in SoHo. The Webster founder Laure Heriard Dubreuil purchased the building for $6.1 million in 2013.

Heriard Dubreuil said in an interview that The Webster rebuilt three floors in the building “to look how they did originally” and built a penthouse. “Like The Webster in Miami, there won’t be any display windows on the street. It looks like a dollhouse—very private—but it also feels like home.”

She added that opening a store in New York City “makes sense” when considering how the business is growing. Heriard Dubreuil serves as the owner and buyer for The Webster and is responsible for the retailer’s luxury brand mix and collaborations with Target, Eres, The Ritz Paris, and Lane Crawford.

“People are looking for something different, someplace exclusive, a one-stop-shop,” she said. “This will be like a gigantic closet and a safe haven.”

The SoHo store is slated to carry women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and home furnishings, and it will house a shoe salon and a 1,600-square-foot salon by hairstylist David Mallett, which will mark as his first salon outside of Paris and his third salon in total. In addition, The Webster New York City will debut children’s wear and baby clothing.

The Webster currently operates stores in Bal Harbour, Houston, and a location in Costa Mesa that opened in 2016.
