NAFE is a division of Working Mother Media, and gives recognition via the list to companies that “prioritize the retention and promotion of female employees at all levels of the organization.” WorkingMother.com has published the results online as well as in its print journal.

While most female promotions were seen in the manager level, women make up over half of the key roles at L’Oreal USA and bring in almost half of the top salaries in the company. At P&G, 30% of the VP and higher executive level positions are filled by women.

This is P&G’s eighth year in the top 10, and 16th year of being recognized in the top 60 companies. It is L’Oreal USA’s first year in the top 10 and second year making the larger list.

“I am happy to report that female representation in senior management positions continues to inch up at NAFE top companies,” said Betty Spence, president of NAFE. “Though progress of women into senior positions has slowed nationally, the 2016 NAFE Top Companies are leading the way in moving women in power positions where they have the influence to innovate and boost profits.”

Wal-Mart, Target and Avon also were recognized and are on the larger list.
