Topshop Australia pushes denim with instore customisation

Published
Mar 16, 2018

Following its return to form from voluntary administration last year, Topshop Australia is pushing denim with the launch of an in-store customisation pop-up.

Kentaro Yoshida and Sophia Athas will be customising denim in-store for the retailer - Topshop

Held within the Topshop Topman flagship store in Sydney, the UK-founded retailer will be hosting artists Sophia Athas and Kentaro Yoshida for an in-store denim customisation pop-up on Saturday, March 17.

Marking the release of the retailer's men's and women's Denim Campaign, which is the first campaign where Topman and Topshop have partnered, customers can opt to have either Athas or Yoshida’s artistic designs painted on their jeans, with any denim purchase made in-store at the Gowings location.

No stranger to fashion collaborations, Yoshida has worked with the likes of Converse, Vans, Under Armour, and Young Henry’s. The Topshop collaboration will be his very first live clothing customisation.

Athas is the co-founder of her own DIY customisation brand Hatrik.

Topshop first launched in the country in 2011, but fell into voluntary administration in early 2017.

In August last year, it was announced the retailer's British founder, Arcadia Group, would revive the Australia arm, taking over local operations with just four Australia stores remaining open in key locations such as Sydney, Bondi Junction, Melbourne and Brisbane.

It previously operated another five standalone stores and with 17 concessions.
