Totokaelo swaps locations for NYC store

Totokaelo opened on Friday a new retail location in New York City at the Germania Bank Building on 190 Bowery.
 

The retailer temporarily closed its Crosby Street store to move to the former graffiti-riddled building. The new store retains the vintage bank interior, but covers it with modern furniture such as white display shelves for accessories, metal racks along the walls, various glass display tables, and metal and white wall dividers.
 
Each floor is a unique and sprawling world, with hardwood floors and marble walls on the main floor, white tile walls reminiscent of New York City subways in several rooms, and white tile floors and chipped walls in an industrial footwear basement room that was left unaltered.

Herschel Supply Capital Co. acquired a majority stake in Totokaelo in 2016, and the retailer’s founder Jill Wenger stepped down as CEO shortly thereafter. In addition to operating a New York City location, the retailer operates a Seattle flagship and an e-commerce website.
