Tween Brands says goodbye to Limited Too

Tween Brands Inc. is walking away from its core brand Limited Too as it reported a sales net loss of $6.7 million in the second quarter. The retail chain, which is geared toward young girls, announced it will convert its 560 Limited Two stores to its discount brand, Justice.

Tween hopes to complete the conversion by 2009, increasing the grand total of Justice stores from 310 to 900 stores. Tween's CEO Mike Rayden said, "In these tough economic times, our customers are seeking the more value-oriented apparel available at Justice, which is priced on average approximately 20-25% lower than Limited Too."

Discount retailers such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. remain virtually unaffected by the economic slump. - Maria Woehr
