Ahead of Twitter Inc.'s Annual General Meeting, investors have reportedly asked the company to evaluate its stock exchange delisting and its transformation into a user-controlled cooperative. The information was reported by the Financial Times.

The changes would supposedly ease the pressure for short-term results that Wall Street exerts on Twitter Inc., potentially causing the group to take wrong strategic decisions. The investors' proposal stated that "In 2016 we saw the future of Twitter teetering on the brink. This is why we believe that the company's future should be consistent with the vision of those who bring value to it: its users."

The investors also advocated for moves to make  the company's governance "democratic".
