The contest is essay format, open nationally to baseball and softball teams with players ages 8-12. Entrants have to write a one page essay on the value of protective eyewear in their sport, and how sunglasses help them "See Like an Athlete." 10 winning teams will receive Under Armour eyewear for their whole youth baseball team.

Scott Betty, SVP of product and marketing for Under Armour Eyewear explained, "the Ripken Baseball organization is the ideal platform for Under Armour Eyewear to highlight the importance of young athletes protecting their eyes from harmful UVA/B/C rays. Our innovative performance styles provide them with the safety and eye protection they need to be better, healthier players.

Betty continued, “everyone at Under Armour Eyewear is committed to providing the highest quality performance eyewear product for the next generation of athletes.”

John Bramlette, EVP of amateur baseball and growth at Ripken Baseball further highlighted the thought behind the partnership, saying “in baseball, your eyes play an integral role in how well you perform on the field."

The contest hits just in time for National Sunglasses Day on June 27th.
