Under Armour on Wednesday previewed its upcoming UA x Muhammad Ali performance training collection at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, NY.
The collection is slated to launch this fall and consists of men’s, women’s and children’s training apparel, footwear and accessories that are inspired by the boxing icon. Pieces include an ultra-soft charged cotton t-shirt with an image of Ali training with his famous quote, “Rumble young man, rumble”, a red t-shirt that says “Your hands can’t hit what your eyes can’t see”, and sweatpants with Muhammad Ali’s name on the lower leg and Under Armour on the waistband.
A Thrilla in Manila-themed collection led the preview, which ended with a sneak peek of spring 2016 merchandise.
The preview event also doubled as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the historic Thrilla in Manila fight between Ali and Joe Frazier at Quezon City in the Philippines. To commemorate the anniversary, USA boxing heavyweight Cam Awesome, USA Track and Field gold medalist Natasha Hastings and youth boxer Jovan “Wanna” Walton met in a boxing ring to discuss Ali’s influence on their careers in a panel discussion.
After the discussion, Under Armour unveiled its Rule Yourself campaign featuring iconic Muhammad Ali footage and current Under Armour athletes including Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, Jordan Spieth and Misty Copeland.
The Under Armour design team confirmed that they are putting the finishing touches on a holiday 2016 collection and plan to keep the partnership ongoing.
The UA x Muhammad Ali collection will at UA.com, UA Brand Houses and select retailers on November 1, 2015.
