Canadian shoppers will soon have a variety of modest wear to choose from.

For the first time, Japanese retailer Uniqlo will launch its modest wear collection in Canada, the company announced on Thursday. The Spring/Summer 2017 collection will launch on February 24 and will be available at Uniqlo’s two Canadian stores, CF Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Designed by UK-born fashion designer Hana Tajima, the modest wear collection is her fourth collaboration with the Japanese retailer, but only the first to make it to Canada.

The collection themed “Bringing Abstract to Life” will consist of 30 items and will be available in 81 colours and patterns such as purple, orange and olive, and striped designs. The line will include wrap tunics, flared long dresses, tapered ankle pants, and more traditional wear like hijabs.

Uniqlo says they expect the collection to be a good fit for “Canada’s rich cultural environment and diverse population.”

“Hana Tajima for Uniqlo is a collection that is versatile and inclusive. We are introducing new lightweight fabrics and cutting details that enhance the natural movement of the body,” says Tajima, in a news statement. “There are soft, draped elements in dresses, tunics, and full-length pants alongside more sculptural shapes and silhouettes. These changes are all aimed at giving the wearer complete comfort and an understated elegance.”

Uniqlo currently has around 1,800 stores in 18 markets worldwide. They opened their first store in Canada in September 2016.
