Venetia Scott to replace Lucinda Chambers as British Vogue fashion director

Outgoing British Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers will be replaced by Venetia Scott as of next month, the first of what are likely to be a number of changes at the almost-100-year-old title happening in the wake of Edward Enninful’s appointment as editor-in-chief.

Scott starts on July 10, which means she will have been in place a few weeks before Enninful officially takes up residence in Alexandra Shulman’s vacated office.

She was described Wednesday by Enninful as “visionary, influential and inspiring,” while he added that “Venetia will continue the legacy of creativity and innovation for which British Vogue is known, positioning it for its next century.”
Scott has worked at British Vogue before and, like Chambers, reported into that doyenne of fashion directors Grace Coddington before the latter moved on to US Vogue.

Unlike Chambers though, she has a much wider range of experience at the world’s leading glossy titles, including Vogue Italia, AnOther Magazine, Self Service, The Face, Arena, i-D and Nova.

Interestingly, she is also a fashion photographer, a role she moved into in the mid-Noughties and in that second career has seen her images published by a trio of Vogues (British, American and Paris), as well as W, Self Service, AnOther Magazine, Dazed & Confused, POP, i-D, Document Journal, and Purple.
