Goldberg has always loved the holiday season, in particular her family’s tradition of donning their ugliest & kitschiest sweaters every holiday season. "I wanted my love of the holidays to come to life with this "ugly" sweater collection," Whoopi Goldberg told the press.

"There's no better way to celebrate the season than by wearing or giving an "ugly" holiday sweater and spending time with family and friends, which is really what it's all about."

The collection comprises eight limited-edition sweaters to be sold in Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada. The sweaters incorporate Goldberg’s trademark humour, as well as her whimsical love of the holiday season.

Although the collection take kitsch to an extreme, the sweaters are quality-made garments using upscale materials such as alpaca, wool, and cashmere. Each sweater retails for $175 and will arrive in stores on November 1st.

Liz Rodbell, Presidentof Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor (where the Goldberg sweaters will be available in the United States) told the media: "Hudson's Bay is Canada's destination for the holidays.  Whether it's our windows, our specialized gifting shops or our incredible Christmas Street installations, we celebrate the holiday season unlike any other retailer. We are thrilled to include Whoopi in our holiday traditions and launch this collection; we know it will surprise and delight our customers during this special time of year."

Hudson’s Bay, founded in 1670, is North America’s oldest company. Hudson’s Bay has since become a landmark Canadian department store, with 90 locations across the country as well as a fully-stocked e-commerce platform.
