Chapter 1: Adorned - The trends for the Fall/Winter 2017-18 (Schmid)

For next winter season, one of the most appealing themes Schmid presented in its collection is “Adorned”.
It interprets the concept of a European decor with strong baroque traits , making it contemporary.

This style enables to play, also tongue in cheek, with the past, stressing a new opulence, both overblown and refined.
The enjoyer of Adorner is nifty and discriminating, seeking to combine tradition and modernity, finding inspiration in the most eclectic disciplines, ranging from fashion to art without overlooking interior design.

The colour palette is fresh and lively, updating the classical hues of home furnishings: faded black tones that blend with the dark brown of woodworks, army greens enhanced with strokes of red, fuchsia with a new warm feel and Air Force blue. For the final touch, metallic tones, that express wealth, especially gold and platinum.

From the standpoint of materials, Adorned can be interpreted in different ways:

-    The revival of classical furnishing patterns such as rich brocades with lamé yarns and upholstry-type decorations with ornamental motifs.
-    Modern combinations with multi-layer surfaces that blend different techniques such as flocking combined with sequin and geometric quilt patterns shimmed on light velvets.
-    The extensive use of lamé and metallic yarns to enrich nettings, creating a sophisticated look for the more technical materials.
