Paul Smith-Spring Summer 2014 Menswear Collection in Paris (with ITW)

« La vie en rose » For Paul Smith in the court of Lycée Carnot in Paris. For his main line, the designer emphasises his strong points; notably colour. For summer 2014, it’s about powdered tones for suits and knitwear, but with a touch of an almost fluorescent pink on trousers or scattered on the edge of jackets. A new jumper with a double zip makes its appearance and black and white graffiti prints are very successful on shirts and jackets. Boys often have long hair, but always with the british rock attitude…

Paul Smith :
The last collection in the summer was very bright, but now other people in the industry are doing bright colours, so I’ve moved my collection on to more washed colours, more pale colours, but one bright; which is beautiful pink. It’s a very rock and roll colour, but I have a lot of rock and roll clients.
My second line, you know I have four lines for men, my second line has really been pushed into more colour, and more modernity. So, with this line, luckily – which is quite lovely – I’ve got a lot of young customers, and a lot of those customers are used to wearing sportswear for skateboarding or snowboarding, so the idea is that they can identify with that. So, I’ve mixed woven fabrics with performance fabrics, and we’ve been showing in Milan this last week and already in Paris and the result is fantastic.
