Jacquemus- WOMENSWEAR collection Autumn-Winter 2016/17 in Paris (with interview)

Designer: Simon Porte JacquemusLocation: Espace Ephémère Tuileries Inspiration: A collection constructed like a puzzle with even musical assemblies and breaks Focus on: the checkered patterns in a Barbès vs Burberry way, the squared off, exaggerated shoulders, jackets, the roundness of a skirt and all the asymmetrical cuts.Note: a 50’s couture spirit through the Juliet sleeves and clothes sculpted in weightlessness and in a certain fluidity for a ruffled topJackets in wool draping for destructured silhouettes tied in links. Interview from Simon Porte Jacquemus:There are a lot of couture references and clichés in the collection: a fake Burberry jacket, a sequined 90s evening dress, a very long Burberry Barbès scarf... I used a lot of clichés in order to understand the work and path of the collection. A suit divided in two: a navy half and another fabric on the other side. I wanted to show that division then the reconstruction. This is because last time I showed a lot of weaknesses, not in the clothes but in the proposals, I did something very dangerous for me to do, I opened myself up to people, I was very emotional. I gave so much last time, so this time, I distanced myself, I reconstructed and rebuilt everything and referenced it too. You saw colours started to appear and raw ends of threads which bind the clothes. I wanted to create new, different trompe-l’oeils that float in the air, as if in a cartoon.Music of the show, (donot reuse for more than 7 days after the show)
