Carven- WOMENSWEAR collection Autumn-Winter 2016/17 in Paris (with interviews)

Designers: Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud Location: Espace éphémère, Jardin des Tuileries, Paris. Pink, white, marble and balls of light Inspiration: a girl returned from a trip to Kathmandu and finds her wardrobe urban, between sportswear and modernity Focus: sheep skin coats are back, chunky knit cardigan, cashmere, short skirts matched with strappy tops and plastrons like plates of armour, vinyl, lace, rounded collars and cuts for dressesNote: The graphic sweaters with one or two zips in a, quite "esoteric" spirit with pictures of glaciers and crystals Interview from Adrien Caillaudaud & Alexis Martial:The idea of the collection is a girl who comes back from her trip in Kathmandu and returns to her city, her home, with her friends then she goes out and relives memorable moments from her tripFor us the Carven girl had to have attitude, so we emphasised this idea through baggy low waisted trousers For the fabrics and the colours we always start with an interior design and an architectural image and for this collection we were inspired by interior design images from the 70’s where there are mixes of tweed, wool, and felt but contrasted with plastic. It was important to blend that all together. We love accumulation and it was important for us to play with the colours. I think that when people get dressed today they like to accumulate lots of things and layer them all up; I think that defines real life today.
