Prabal Gurung - Women's Autumn/Winter 2017-18 collection in New York (with interview)

Designer : Prabal Gurung Ambiance : The designer celebrates the woman by clearly exposing his political views with Bella Hadid opening the show and Joan Smalls closing.Silhouette : of course feminine. The jackets and braided knitwear worn with skirts and light dresses. Everything is made by hand, the embroidery with lace and fringes, without forgetting the luxurious materials (intarsia, jacquard, silk chiffon …)To note : the strong message. A finale to the soundtrack ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon and models wearing t-shirts with messages, referencing women’s rights recently questioned by Donald Trump Interview with Prabal Gurung :It started right with the idea after the women’s march, I thought it was a time more than ever for fashion to be aligned, and talking about what’s happening, fashion and politics are no longer mutually exclusive, it’s time for us to talk, it’s time for us to be aware, awake, alive and vigilant so what I wanted to do was really look back at the women who have paved the way for everyone Women should dress like women, that was the statement that we made, and for me that really got me thinking what does it mean to dress like a woman, and to me is means choices, the choices that woman have, to make their own decisions, if they want to wear an overcoat, hand knit sweaters, a cocktail dress or a printed dress.I wanted to use this platform and the millions of people who are watching it to talk about what is really important and for me as a designer it was really important to talk about the issues at hand right now.
