Y/PROJECT Show - Women's Collection Autumn/Winter 2018/19 in Paris (with interview)

Designer: Glenn MartensInspiration: women always respond to men, presented last January, the designer explains it to us nicely backstage, telling us that he wanted ‘two bodies blending together, like they’re making love, the idea of clothes which are united’. Collection: construction and layering are always emphasized. Glenn enjoys playing with different levels of interpretation, jumpers seem to be endlessly rolled, and the trousers are made up of several pieces. The sewn dressing gown ensembles are used to shape a singular piece. Checks, floral prints, and striped faux fur make up several propositions. Jackets which end as capes, coats with multiple linings. Several draped evening dresses. To note: the new pointed shoes, with just the big toe exposed & the collaboration with UGG for new high boots.Interview with Glenn Martens: The story of this season for Autumn/Winter is really to bring together two bodies, one in the other, like they’re making love. So we don’t know where is begins and or ends and in fact it’s full of different ways to wear the clothes. For me it’s important to keep your personality and I believe that a garment which is slightly adaptable to someone, to their mood, is a piece of clothing which lasts a bit longer and which is nice to wear. There are pieces which are easier to wear or nicer to wear and there are pieces which create a different attitude as we work with all these different women and we always celebrate these different women, wearing a corset, wearing heels, we stand differently and we become different people so that’s why we play around with these different pieces.
