’47 and the Black Fives Foundation partner on collection

’47, a privately held sports lifestyle brand, and the Black Fives Foundation, a non-profit organization specializing in the research and preservation of the pre-1950 history of African Americans in basketball, announced a multi-year licensing partnership that combines fashion and history.


'47 and The Black Fives Foundation first-of-its-kind collection of apparel featuring sports history


The collaboration collection that includes headwear, apparel and pennants are inspired by the Foundation’s historical archive of Black Fives Era artifacts such as historically accurate logos of the original African American teams.
 
“The vision behind this collaboration from our two authentically rooted brands is to not only capture fans’ passion for basketball, history, and quality workmanship, but also to honor and celebrate the once-forgotten but important efforts and contributions of the game’s early African American pioneers,” said Claude Johnson, Executive Director of the Black Fives Foundation.

The aim for the collaboration is to revive pieces of sports history through youthful, contemporary lifestyle apparel and accessories. The collection will expand to offer vintage jerseys and socks in the near future.
 
Reed Space in New York City, LDRS in Chicago, Shop 412 in Pittsburgh, Hall of Fame in Los Angeles, Major in Washington D.C., Packer in New Jersey, Sneaker Villa in Philadelphia, and ‘47’s flagship store in Boston offer the collection, and a European roll out will launch at Old Truman Brewery in London on June 11th. A pop up shop will run until June 21st.
