A generation change at Chanel perfumes

Published
Jul 7, 2013

Jacques Polge, the creator of fragrances for the Paris company since 1978, will be succeeded by his son, Olivier Polge. Chanel did not specify the date of the changeover but indicated that the two men would work side by side for a certain time.

Oliver Polge has worked as a perfumer at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) since 1998. On behalf of brands and luxury houses, he has developed perfumes that have gone on to achieve international success (Flowerbomb and Spicebomb from Victor & Rolf and La Vie est Belle by Lancôme). He is also the recipient of the 2009 International Fragrance Prize.

Olivier Polge starts up at Chanel in September and will undergo a comprehensive training program on the luxury house and its work culture. He will work directly with Christopher Sheldrake, director of research and development for fragrance at Chanel.
