A new Adidas and Pharrell collaboration will launch this month

Published
May 4, 2017

Pharrell Williams has collaborated on two new shoe designs for Adidas. The new models will launch on May 6, and are inspired by some of the shoe brand’s classic styles.

The new model in the yellow colourway references elements of Adidas' Forest Hill shoe - Adidas

Titled “Tennis Hu Icons,” the collaboration will include two new styles. One shoe, featuring a bright green sole, is similar to the brand’s popular Stan Smith model. The second model, with a yellow sole and yellow shoelaces, includes elements of the brand’s Forest Hill shoe. Williams says the color scheme was inspired by 1970s tennis court styles. Both models incorporate Primeknit and more modern materials into the body of the shoe for a lightweight feel.

The musician and producer has worked with Adidas since 2014. However, his previous collaborations were modifications on existing styles. The new Tennis Hu Icons represent the first original creation from Williams, following more than a dozen creative collaborations with the German shoe brand. The Tennis Hu shoes are a follow-up to last year’s “Hu” collection, which included shoes and apparel decorated with the words “Human Race” in various languages.

Adidas, which is headquartered in Germany, has partnered with many musicians and fashion designers in the past, including Kanye West and Jeremy Scott. Williams has also partnered with brands like Uniqlo and Moncler to create clothing and sunglasses.

The Tennis Hu collection will launch May 6, with each pair retailing for $130.
