ASOS on Tuesday announced that Adam Crozier has informed the board he intends to step down as Chairman of the fashion e-tail giant, having accepted the role of Chairman of BT Group. The process to find a new Chair has started, but he will remain on the board and continue in his current role until 28 November, which marks the end of his three-year term of office.

The announcement came as the UK telecoms giant BT announced the appointment of one of the most experienced corporate executives in Britain to oversee it as it continues to transform itself.

Crozier, who previously oversaw key strategies at broadcaster ITV, at the Royal Mail and at the Football Association, will become chairman designate on November 1 and will fully assume the chairman's role a month later, when Jan du Plessis retires.

BT said Crozier would bring his experience in running public and private companies to the firm. "He has built a strong track record in turning around organisations and for his ability to build and lead successful management teams," it said.

Not that he had to help turn around ASOS as his time there has seen it in one of its most successful periods. It grew further in the UK and abroad and deftly navigated the pandemic period, while seeing its share price rising.
