ASVOFF to host event in Cannes

A Shaded View on Fashion Film (ASVOFF) is organising its first aperitivo at the Cannes International Film Festival on May 19. The event, sponsored by Peroni, will take place at private club Le Cercle on the Carlton hotel beach. A selection of films produced by important names in fashion and photography will be screened at the event. Amongst the short-films selected for the even include pieces from Mike Figgis, Ellen Von Unwerth and Bryan Adams, with appearances from Tilda Swinton and Rossy de Palma. Additionally, attendees will be treated to special performance by producer and musician Joana Preiss.

“Being in Cannes is an opportunity for ASVOFF to promote its content and as well as to showcase its potential to industry insiders from across the world,” says David Herman, event producer at ASVOFF. For him, fashion is as important for film as it was for photography a century ago, referencing the involvement of Chanel with the Tribeca Film Festival and Prada with the reproduction The Great Gatsby. “The fashion industry is driven by creativity and freshness and is always looking to discover new producers, new opportunities for actors and different ways to get their work out there,” he continued.

The sixth edition of the ASVOFF festival will take place between 11 and 13 October at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. In the meantime, the next festival will be held in Arnheim this coming June.
