Abercrombie & Fitch recently promoted its VP of Men’s Design Aaron Levine to Senior Vice President, Men’s and Women’s Design. The promotion comes almost two years after Levine joined the company from Club Monaco.
Levine has designed for many brands prior to joining Abercrombie in 2015. He served as Hickey Freeman Design Director and Creative Director of Rogues Gallery before designing at Jack Spade and Club Monaco.
Abercrombie hired Levine during its rebranding phase following the departure of former CEO Michael Jeffries. The company shed its “sexy” image and launched a redefined brand image this holiday season under Creative Director of Marketing Ashley Sargent Price.
In addition to hiring Levine in 2015, Abercrombie also hired Kristina Szasz as Head of Women’s Design. With Szasz at the helm, Abercrombie launched a women’s athleisure clothing collection. The company reportedly preferred to have Levine design for both genders for consistency.
In November, Abercrombie missed its quarterly sales estimates and net sales fell for the 15th consecutive quarter. Comparable sales also fell 14% in the quarter compared to a 5% decrease in the prior year.
