Accessories Council announces third annual Design Excellence Awards winners

The Accessories Council announced on Thursday the winners of its third annual Design Excellence Awards in categories such as eyewear, handbags, footwear and more.

First launched in 2019, the Accessories Council launched the Design Excellence Awards to expand the recognition of outstanding products. 

Among the winners, the Hall of Fame Award, which recognizes one single iconic product or brand that has stood the test of time, was awarded to Coach, recognizing The Rogue Bag on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the iconic American brand.

The NPD Recovery Driver Award that recognizes the top dollar volume item in the category that has seen the strongest recovery vs. 2020, went to the Samsonite 28” Freeform Spinner Suitcase. All the while, Romeo Hunte luggage was the recipient of the Blackglama Exclusively by Saga Furs Award.

Other winners include Etoile in the Handbag category over $1,000 retail, as Pop Bag USA took the title in the the under $1,000 category. In eyewear, Burberry was named in the optical category State Optical in Sun, along with Prada

Moreover, footwear over $250 was given to Lori Silverman Shoes, while footwear under $250 was received by Dr. Scholl’s, owned by CaleresJewelry in the fashion category went to Deepa Gurnani, fine jewelry was received by Daria de Koning and the personal accessories award went to Kelly Wynne. 

Winning products were voted on by the public from finalist pools selected by the Accessories Council board of directors. Finalists were chosen based on the criteria of excellence in design, unique appearance and/or function, consumer needs addressed by product, and much more.
