Acne Studios to show only one womenswear collection per season

A surplus of collections is stifling the fashion industry, and Acne Studios has decided to slow down the pace. The Paris-based Swedish label has issued a press release indicating its intention to feature only one major womenswear collection per season. It will combine the pre- and main collections, starting with the Autumn/Winter 2018-19.

Women's Spring 2018 pre-collection - Acne

"We always strive to create collections that are as powerful and high-calibre as possible. By combining the pre-collection and the main collection, we will be able to present an even stronger range, one that is all the more relevant for our consumers and international multibrand partners," said Mattias Magnusson, the label's Director.

Less but better, is what Acne Studios is hoping for, having also decided to revise the timing of its collection's presentation. Acne Studios has in fact opted for showing the womenswear collection at the time of Paris' haute couture week, in January, and not during the ready-to-wear week in March.

By aligning the presentation with the pre-collections' dates, Acne Studios will be making available its Autumn/Winter 2018 collection in-store from next June, and the Spring/Summer 2019 collection from the following December. However, Acne Studios added that the collection will be made available gradually throughout the season.

No change instead for the label's menswear, whose seasonal range will always be presented as part of the traditional Paris men's fashion week calendar.

Acne Studios currently operates more than fifty monobrand stores and is distributed also via several hundred multibrand retailers. Altogether, the label's revenue is now close to €200 million.
