Alexa Chung’s 2019 Met Gala dress, a custom mini dress with floral embroidery and a feather trim, is serving as the focus of the first Youtube video on her newly launched channel.
Following in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham, who launched her own Youtube channel during London Fashion Week in February, Alexa Chung has promised her new social media platform will give viewers exclusive access to “original, unfiltered content”.
“'I am so happy that I can finally announce the launch of my official Youtube channel, which will be the new home of original, unfiltered content and a place which I hope will inspire my community through a host of videos spanning fashion, travel, art and self-expression,” said the British designer and style icon in a statement.
Derek Blasberg, fashion and beauty director at YouTube, added: “Alexa Chung is one of my favourite people. Of course, she’s stylish, but she’s also quirky, witty, and has a unique perspective on just about everything. When I came to Youtube, she was one of the first people I thought of to be a partner, and I can’t wait to see what she does with us. I’m honoured to be a part of bringing this to life and know that her fans are really going to enjoy this new behind-the-scenes look into the world of Alexa Chung.”
After sharing a teaser video with a deadpan Chung seating on a sofa surrounded by a marching band, the first video on her new Youtube channel will premiere on Tuesday 7 May.
